With the theme of “Riding the Wind and Waves, Striving and Sailing Far Away“, the 2025 graduation ceremony and degree awarding ceremony of Shanghai Normal University (SHNU) was held on the western Xuhui campus on the morning of June 12th. School leaders, teacher representatives, and over 8,000 graduates of the class of 2025 attended the solemn and enthusiastic ceremony. Nearly 140,000 alumni and parents from all over the country gathered online to watch the ceremony.
At the ceremony, Lin Zaiyong, the Party Secretary of the university, announced the decision on commending “the Outstanding Graduates of Shanghai Higher Education Institutions in 2025, Outstanding Graduates of SHNU, and Top Ten Graduates of SHNU Golden Voyage Award”.
President Yuan Wen sent affectionate messages to all graduates: “Graduation is not the end of learning, but a new starting point. Only in real social life can one perceive and acquire the abilities and qualities required for future career development and the journey of life.”
Five representatives of undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral graduates presented a “reply letter” to their alma mater in the form of group recitation at the ceremony, leading all graduates to relive the bits and pieces of their study and life at SHNU.
On and off the stage, more than 250 teacher representatives from 21 colleges and 12 phalanxes adjusted the caps and flipped the tassels for the graduating students. Teacher representatives and graduate representatives sent their best wishes to over 8,000 graduates of SHNU.
