On the morning of May 12th, the opening ceremony of the 2025 Advanced Research Project for Educational Administrators from Belt and Road Initiative Countries was held at the SHNU UNESCO Teacher Education Center. The project was funded by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, co-organized by the UNESCO Teacher Education Center (hereinafter referred to as the UNESCO Center) and the International Exchange Office of Shanghai Normal University. The theme of this year's exchange is STEM Teachers in the AI Era, aiming to promote cross-border cooperation by facilitating the exchange of innovative ideas, practical experiences, and feasible strategies in the STEM education field. About 36 government officials, experts, and scholars from around the world participated in this training program.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Dr. Li Ruimiao, director of the the Belt and Road project of the UNESCO Teacher Education Center. Jiang Mingjun, Vice President of Shanghai Normal University, Zhang Minzhong, Director of the UNESCO Teacher Education Center, Chen Hao, Deputy Director of the International Exchange Department of the Shanghai Education Commission, and Khamis Abdulla Said, Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Vocational and Education Training in Tanzania, delivered unique opening speeches.
Professor Jiang Xuefeng from East China Normal University delivered a keynote speech on the theme of Education: A Journey of Heart to Heart Communication. Professor Jiang Xuefeng shared several principles of science education and, based on specific cases and his own experience, demonstrated to the attendees the importance, accuracy, practicality, and transmission concept of scientific spirit in science education.
It is reported that this project will last until May 19th. Through holding seminars and workshops, conducting on-site visits to schools and enterprises, and organizing multicultural experience activities and other rich forms, a cross-border STEM teacher education cooperation platform will be built, which will deeply promote the collision of ideas and the mutual learning of experiences among teachers and educators from various countries. It aims to strengthen the practical cooperation in the education field among the Belt and Road Initiative co-building countries and promote the professional cultivation and growth support for STEM education teachers.
