On March 27th, the Council of the Confucius Institute at the University of Botswana was successfully held at SHNU. Jiang Mingjun, Vice President, and Richard Chombe Tabulawa, Vice President of the University of Botswana, attended the Council.
Jiang Mingjun extended a welcome to Richard Chombe Tabulawa and his delegation and thanked the University of Botswana for its support in the construction of the Confucius Institute. He pointed out that the cooperation with the University of Botswana is an important component of SHNU internationalization strategy. As an important platform for SHNU to carry out overseas education and promote international cooperation, the Confucius Institute has been committed to promoting cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries and spreading Chinese language education since its establishment. In the face of the rapid development of globalization and informatization, the Confucius Institute should adhere to quality-oriented principle, strengthen the foundation of Chinese education and deepen connotative development.
Tabulawa said that the Confucius Institute at the University of Botswana has made positive contributions to China-Botswana cultural exchanges and international Chinese education. He hoped that both sides would actively expand the cooperation possibilities in education, culture, scientific research and other fields by taking Confucius Institute as a platform.
At the meeting, the members of the council passed the 2024 council minutes, reviewed the 2024 work report, financial report, and 2025 work plan of the Confucius Institute, and had in-depth discussions on issues related to the development of the Confucius Institute.
