On the morning of February 28th, Ms. Mileidy Aguirre Díaz, Consul General of Cuba in Shanghai, and Mr. Dionisio Zaldívar Silva, Vice President of Havana University, led a delegation to visit our university. Vice President Jiang Mingjun and Vice President Li Ye met with guests, and officials from the International Exchange Office and the School of Marxism participated in the talks.
Jiang Mingjun welcomed Consul General Mileidy and Vice President Dionisio, and introduced the achievements of the school in talent cultivation, disciplinary characteristics, and international development in recent years. In the future, the school will focus on promoting in-depth cooperation with Havana University in areas such as Marxist theory research, tourism management, and Spanish language education, creating a new chapter in educational cooperation between the two universities.
Li Ye highlighted the outstanding achievements of SHNU in the field of scientific research and put forward suggestions on the cooperation between the two sides in building joint research institutes and conducting collaborative scientific research.
The Consul General Mileidy Aguirre Díaz briefly reviewed the development of friendly exchanges between China and Cuba. As the first country in Latin America to establish diplomatic relations with New China and one of the first countries in Latin America to join the the Belt and Road Initiative, Cuba has always maintained close ties with China.
During the meeting, both sides had in-depth discussions on the establishment of a joint center for higher education science, a Marxist research institute, Spanish language courses, and research personnel visiting China for study.
Havana University is the oldest and largest renowned higher education institution in Cuba, with a history of 297 years. Havana University has fifteen departments and fourteen research centers, covering multiple fields including economics, natural sciences, and humanities. It offers approximately 30 majors including finance, law, management, education, humanities and arts, journalism and communication, and information science.
