Zhao Zhenyu's Research Group from the School of Mathematics and Physics Has a Breakthrough in Studying Terahertz Meta-surfaces

03 Jan 2025

In order to explore new configurations and new principle devices for regulating the localized resonance characteristics of terahertz electromagnetic waves, the research group led by Professor Zhao Zhenyu from the School of Mathematics and Physics at SHNU has proposed the use of photonic Moiré super-lattices to control terahertz electromagnetic induced transparency (EIT) and bound states in continuum (BIC). The relevant results were published in the authoritative journals Applied Physics Letters and Optics of the American Society of Optics in October and December 2024, respectively on December 18, 2024, it was reported on the official website of the Terahertz Professional Committee of the Chinese Electronics Society, Terahertz Research and Development Network, and evaluated as opening up a new era of terahertz resonance characteristics with angle regulation.

Shanghai Normal University is the first unit and corresponding author unit for the above-mentioned work. Zhang Xuelian, a master's student majoring in optics from the SHNU School of Mathematics and Physics in 2022, is the first author of the paper, and Professor Zhao Zhenyu is the corresponding author. This study was jointly funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China General Project (62475159) and the Jiangsu Provincial Administration for Market Regulation Science and Technology Horizontal Project (KJ2024021).
