In the afternoon of November 27th, Professor He Zuhua, an academician of the CAS (Chinese Academy of Sciences) Member and a researcher of the Center for Excellence and Innovation in Molecular Plant Science of the CAS, was invited to give a series of lectures on Scientific Life of the College of Life Sciences as the keynote speaker, focusing on the scientific issue of Genetics does not lie: genetic basis and application of molecular breeding for crop disease resistance.
Academician He Zuhua is a well-known plant pathology and geneticist who has long been engaged in research on plant pathology and crop disease resistance breeding. In the lecture, Academician He Zuhua shared with everyone five aspects, including the origin of crops, the development of crop breeding, the current situation of crop diseases and pests in China and China's food security, the arms race between plants and pathogens, and the creation and breeding application of crop disease resistant core sources. Based on his nearly 40 years of scientific research experience, he presented the relevant research results on the creation and breeding application of crop disease resistant core germplasm.
His speech concerned not only rigorous and detailed scientific theoretical knowledge and cutting-edge trends in the discipline, but also the current situation and development direction of China's food security and plant germplasm resource innovation. At the same time, it also involves the practical significance and important role of major national strategic decisions in the field of agricultural research for students majoring in biology.
