On the afternoon of November 11th, the 4th Global Teacher Development Forum and the first Chinese version of the Global Teacher Report were successfully held at the UNESCO Teacher Education Center (hereinafter referred to as the Center).
The Participants include Getachew ENGIDA, former Deputy Director General of UNESCO, Andreas SCHLEICHER, Director of the Education and Skills Department of OECD, Carlos VARGAS-TAMEZ, Head of the UNESCO Working Group on Teacher Development, Hyun Mook LIM, Director of the Education Center for International Understanding in the Asia Pacific Region of UNESCO, Jordan NAIDOO, former Executive Director of the UNESCO Institute for International Education Planning, Wu Jianbing, former Chief Education Expert of the World Bank, Zheng Haojie, President and Editor in Chief of the Education Science Press, Cheng Jieming, Honorary Professor of the School of Education of Hong Kong University, Xiang Shiqing, a researcher of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Jiang Mingjun, Vice President of Shanghai Normal University.
The Global Teacher Report, jointly completed by UNESCO and the Education 2030 Teachers International Working Group, aims to promote progress towards the Education 2030 Teacher Development Goals, present the current situation of global teacher predicaments, analyze the causes of teacher shortage, and provide recommendations and international experience for strengthening teacher recruitment, retention, and professional development. Authorized by UNESCO, the translation of the first Chinese version of the Global Teacher Report was completed by more than 30 teachers and students from the center over a period of six months, which is another collective achievement of the center's teachers and students. As the first Chinese version of the report is published, the 4th Global Teacher Development Forum has officially kicked off. Themed How to enhance the attractiveness of the teaching profession, the forum invited renowned scholars and experts from home and abroad to explore the opportunities and challenges of global teacher career development in the new technological domains.
