Recently, the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security announced the list of winners of the Super Postdoctoral Incentive Program in Shanghai for 2024. Eight postdoctoral fellows from SHNU have received funding for this year. The successful candidates are involved in such domains as Chinese history, environmental science and engineering, mathematics, and astronomy.

Among the recipients, Dr. Chen Yao from the Environmental Science and Engineering Mobile Station is the first to be funded by Boxin Program, which broke a record in SHNU history. Dr. Chen Yao graduated from Fudan University with a major in Physical Chemistry and  published over ten academic papers in authoritative journals such as Nature Sustainability, Angewandte Chemie International Edition, Joule, Green Chemistry, and Applied Catalysis, and has been granted multiple patents. Her current research focus is on photocatalytic clean extraction of precious metals from solid waste. The Postdoctoral Innovation Talent Support Program, also known as the Boxin Program, selects around 400-500 outstanding PhDs who are fresh graduates to engage in postdoctoral research work. The government provides a daily funding support of RMB280,000 Yuan per person per year for postdoctoral fellows, for a total of 2 years. Besides, additional teacher apartments will be provided for the sponsored candidates.

As the first postdoctoral fellow recruited after the establishment of the astronomy station, Dr. Du Rui received a special funding of RMB150,000 Yuan for postdoctoral talents upon entering the station.
