Professor Huang Xuehui from the SHNU College of Life Sciences is among them.

Professor Huang Xuehui has been conducting long-term research on rice quantitative genetics, using data analysis to detect important crop genes and applying them to their variety improvement. He has innovated the theory of rice quantitative genetics research and provided key new genes and methods for rice breeding and improvement.

His main research directions include genetic analysis of complex crop traits, molecular mechanisms of rice heterosis, and development of analysis methods for genetic big data.

The China Youth Science and Technology Award was established in 1987, proposed by the older generation of scientists Qian Xuesen and Zhu Guangya. It shortlisted winners every two years, with no more than 100 awards in each session. The award has been selected 17 times, with a total of 1,705 young science and technology workers receiving this honor. It is an important force in China's scientific and technological innovation, and about 190 winners have been elected as academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
