On September 26th, the 2021 Opening Ceremony of New Students was held on Fengxian Campus and Xuhui Campus at the same time and attended by 5, 058 undergraduates and 3, 417 postgraduates.
The opening ceremony started in graceful poem recitals to review the history of our country and to pay tribute to China from over 8, 000 students and teachers singing in chorus.
The SHNU President Yuan Wen extended her gracious welcome to the new arrivers and encouraged the students to have strong beliefs to repay the society with what they have acquired.
The teachers’ and students’ representatives spoke at the ceremony to inspire the new students with their own experience. The SHNU Party Secretary Lin Zaiyong helped the students wear the SHNU badge.
It ended in sonorous Alma Mater Songs. This marks the first time that such ceremonies started at two SHNU campuses at the same time and was broadcast live at such internet platforms as Bilibili.com and Tiktok. Altogether, it attracted about 27, 000 people to watch online.
