SHNU President Meets with HK Visitors to Discuss STEM Education Cooperation

On the morning of June 22nd, President Yuan Wen cordially met with President Li Zijian and his delegation from the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), and had in-depth discussions on exchanges and cooperation between the two universities in the field of STEM education. They jointly signed a memorandum of understanding between Shanghai Normal University (SHNU) and the EdUHK on cooperation in STEM education. The SHNU Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Liu Xiaomin, and Vice President, Jiang Mingjun, attended the meeting, accompanied by relevant officials from the school office, the School of Education, the Information Office, the Graduate School, and the Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs Office.

Yuan Wen stated that SHNU aims to build a high-level cooperation and exchange platform for international and regional universities. She introduced the exploration and progress in the field of STEM education collaborative innovation, and expressed the hope that through in-depth cooperation and exchange of specific projects, we can work together with the Education University of Hong Kong in STEM education and other areas of common interest, achieve substantial cooperation results, and contribute to serving the cultivation of national science and technology innovation talents.

Li Zijian stated that the Education University of Hong Kong values STEM and the application of technology in the field of education, and expressed that the two schools can jointly explore research on STEM in the field of primary and secondary school teacher training, the application of artificial intelligence in STEM education, and the research and application of STEM in interdisciplinary fields.

Both sides also discussed topics of common interest, such as comparative literature, African studies, higher education research, and ideological and political courses.

Yuan Wen and Li Zijian jointly signed a memorandum of cooperation between the two universities on carrying out STEM education. Based on this, the both sides will utilize their advantageous resources, fully cooperate, and carry out STEM education cooperation.

The Education University of Hong Kong is one of the eight public universities funded by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. According to the 2024 QS World University Discipline Rankings, the EduHK ranks 20th globally in the field of education.
