On February 19th, the opening ceremony of the new Dongtan School of Shanghai Experimental School was held. Yang Zhenfeng, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Yin Houqing, President of the Shanghai Education Society, Miao Jing, Secretary of the Chongming District Committee, Shi Lei, Deputy Director of Chongming District , Lin Zaiyong, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai Normal University, as well as representatives of parents and all teachers and students participated in the event.
Shi Lei delivered a speech on the opening of the new school, emphasizing that the establishment of Dongtan Senior High School, a Shanghai Experimental School, is a major measure to accelerate the modernization of education in Chongming and a great joy for the educational development of Chongming. As the sponsor of the newly-built school, Shanghai Experimental School will provide assistance in education management, teacher development, characteristic building, educational research, and other aspects to promote its development in future. On the basis of cultivating morality and nurturing talents, the new school will provide nutrients for the professional development of teachers and educational research, and inject new vitality into Chongming education.
Dongtan Senior High School of Shanghai Experimental School is one of the five exemplary high schools established by Shanghai Normal University (SHNU) Basic Education Group in Shanghai. Entrusted and managed by Shangshi Experimental School, it is a full-time boarding public high school under the supervision of Chongming District Education Bureau, and operates in accordance with the policy of experimental and demonstrative high schools affiliated to SHNU. The school is located in Chenjia Town, Chongming District, covering an area of 100 acres.
