As the year of Jade Rabbit bid farewell, the year of Golden Dragon arrived. On the noon of February 8th, the 2024 Chinese New Year Party for students staying on campus was held at Taoliju Restaurant on Xuhui Campus. Lin Zaiyong, Secretary of the School Party Committee, Yuan Wen, SHNU President, Zhu Huijun, Deputy Secretary and Vice President of the School Party Committee, SHNU Vice President Jiang Mingjun, SHNU Vice President Li Ye, SHNU Vice President Chen Heng, as well as heads of relevant functional departments, and nearly a hundred students who stayed on campus during winter vacation, gathered together to welcome the auspicious dragon new year of 2024.
Lin Zaiyong delivered an enthusiastic speech, sending warm New Year greetings to the students still on campus and the teachers at their posts during the holiday. He encouraged everyone to work hard so as to write a new chapter for the development of teacher education at SHNU Normal University. The SHNU President Yuan Wen delivered a New Year's speech, affirming the outstanding achievements of the school in talent cultivation, academic research, and social services over the past year. She thanked all teachers and students for their efforts and contributions to the progress and development of the university, and looked forward to a flourishing and innovating SHNU in the new year!
The school leaders presented carefully prepared New Year gift packages to the students who stayed on campus, showing warm concern for their learning and living conditions. In 2024, Shanghai Normal University is about to celebrate its 70th anniversary. The atmosphere at the gathering was lively, and the opening dance performed by students from all ethnic groups showcased the beauty and unity of each ethnic group. The performances of God of Wealth Arrives and Good Fortune Comes by foreign students added a strong sense of joy to the scene and won waves of applause, and among other dazzling performance of the overseas students.
The party also features A Folk Culture Experience Area where Chinese and foreign teachers and students are enthusiastic and actively participating. In front of the calligraphy booth, students wielded their brush pen on paper to express their hopes for a reunion and a better life during the Chinese New Year. In addition, there are booths for cards magic and Chinese traditional paper-fans, allowing international students and teachers to fully savour the unique charm of traditional culture and the festive atmosphere of the New Year.
In the Spring Festival of the the Year of the Loong, the school has carefully prepared various thoughtful gifts and services such as the New Year gift package, gift vouchers, dining cards, movie vouchers and bath cards. In addition, on the eve of winter vacation, the school also provides subsidies for students from disadvantaged families, supports travel expenses for students from other regions, organizes home visits for disadvantaged students, sends holiday greetings to students, and allows them to feel at home at Shanghai Normal University.
