Professor Wu Xiaoqiu, well-known economist, Director of National Research Institute of Finance, and Vice President of Renmin University of China, was invited to deliver a speech entitled “How to Construct a Financial Power” at SHNU on December 8th. Over 20 members of National Supervisory Committee for Professional Degrees in Finance, as well as nearly 140 students and teachers from School of Finance and Business of SHNU listened to Professor Wu Xiaoqiu’s excellent speech on the spot. Professor Liu Jianghui, Dean of School of Finance and Business, presided over the lecture.
As one of the most influential experts in the field of capital market research in the financial circle, Professor Wu is an important pioneer of China’s securities theory research and securities teaching system, and has a unique insight in macroeconomics, financial reforms and capital markets.
Before the lecture, Lin Zaiyong, the Party Secretary of the University, met with Professor Wu Xiaoqiu on campus. Also present was Professor Shi Jianping, Dean of the Guangdong-Hongkong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Huangpu) Research Institute of Central University of Finance and Economics, and Professor Liu Liya, Assistant to the President of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and Party Secretary of the School of Finance. Lin Zaiyong expressed his gratitude to the three experts for coming to the school to carry out high-end academic forum.
In his speech, Professor Wu centered on the theme of building a strong financial nation, and stressed the importance of modern finance and the key criterion of resource allocation, fortune management, multifunctional development and risk control. Also, he stressed the significance of giving full rein to the development of private economy. He pointed out that not only should state-owned enterprises, fixed capital, and the state-owned economy be developed, but also private economic development should be promoted.
