Cosponsored by China Industrial Association of Geographic Information and China Geographic Society, the 12th National GIS (Geographic Information Service) Skills Contest for University Students was held at Guangzhou University from December 1st to 3rd.
Taking forms of online questions, online judge and instant publishing scores, the SHNU team won the 2nd prize after two rounds (each taking about 150 minutes) in one day. The contest attracted about 1, 000 candidates from as many as 193 universities. It tested students’ skills in space data acquisition and processing, mapping, space analyses and 3D modelling.
It is noted that the GIS contest is one of the highest-ranking and most recognized professional competitions in the field of geographic sciences in China.
