Interdisciplinary Arts Show Opens at SHNU Arts Forest

06 Dec 2023

November 30th marks the day of another innovative feast of merging science and arts on SHNU eastern Xuhui campus. It was co-sponsored by SHNU College of Fine Arts, and SHNU Division of Publicity.

Xi (meaning Breathing or growing in Chinese) is the theme of the show. It not only signals the significance of inhaling oxygen, but also the chances to prosper and thrive. The arts show brought forward vigorous energy to Shanghai Normal University with its 11 intriguing space arts works from 9 outstanding artists. Something unique in the show is an avant-garde high-tech material Hypak, developed by Qingyun New Material Research and Development Company. This material is known for its boundless opportunities of being light-weighted, thin and resilient in textures. Besides, the use of Hypak also gives free expression to artists perceptions of nature, space and life.

The show broadens the vision of arts for SHNU students and provides them with inspiring case examples of fusion between arts and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education.
