The SHNU Boyue Chorus won the champion in mixed chorus singing, the golden award for contemporary chorus singing and the Best Conductor Award at the 2nd Far East Chorus Singing Olympics Contest held in Russia on October 29th.
As an important part of Russian arts programs, the contest is sponsored by Russian Federal Ministry of Culture,Russian Chorus Singing Association and Far-eastern Federal University. It involved over 10,000 participants to attend, including about 150 troupes from Russia, China and Ukraine, etc.
The SHNU Boyue Chorus overwhelmed the judge panel and the audience with their perfect rhythms and tones while singing Farewell at City South, Nyon and velvet flowers.
Founded in 2012, the SHNU Boyue Chorus is mainly composed of nonprofessional students who have won the gold prizes at international chorus singing exhibitions, champion at China International Chorus Singing Festival Jazz Group, the first place at Shanghai A Cappella Vocal Contest, and first prize at China University Arts Show sponsored by Ministry of Education, etc. It has been invited to perform at 24 concerts and cooperate with 19 other universities to co-sponsor concerts.
