The 2022 List of Self-strengthening Star of Chinese Universities has been launched recently. Two students of SHNU won this title: Li Yidan, a senior student from SHNU School of Humanities and Literature, and Gao Jing, a junior student from SHNU College of Life Sciences.
This prize aims at setting a paradigm of patriotism, morals, optimism towards challenges and self-strengthening and improvement for university students nowadays.
Li has taken a lead in carrying out not only academic programs, but also in bringing her team to the countryside to provide short-term education for local poverty-stricken children. Also, she has won a series of prizes at Challenge Cup Academic and Technological Works Final, and Outstanding Model Proposing Prize, etc.
Another winner Gao has accumulated as long as 400 hours of voluntary work, including work at loving-care schools and local communities during winter and summer vacation. She has been playing an active part in social volunteers’ work and thus won the certificate of volunteers from Shanghai Youth Volunteers’ Association.
