Recently, the winners’ list of 14th National Zhou Peiyuan Cup National Mechanics Conetest (for individuals) was announced: Wu Tianzhu, a student from SHNU College of Mechanical Engineering won the National Second Prize, two other students won the National Excellence Prize, and two teachers of SHNU won National Outstanding Instructor’s Prize. This marked a historical record for SHNU College of Mechanical Engineering.
Approved by China Ministry of Education, the Zhou Peiyuan Cup Mechanics Contest is a nationwide competition sponsored by Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics and Zhou Peiyuan Foundation. Held biannually, it aims at promoting the reforms and development of basic curricular reforms of higher education and boosting more young students’ interest in learning mechanics while enhancing their abilities to analyse and seek solutions. Initiated from May, it has attracted over 30, 000 candidates from more than 400 universities. Altogether 39 SHNU students candidates were trained for an intensive program for mechanics.
