From May 14thto 16th, Evânio Antônio de Araújo Júnior, the Deputy Minister of Policy Information Management, Innovation, and Evaluation at the Brazilian Ministry of Education, visited Shanghai Normal University(SHNU)and itsUNESCO Teacher Education Center(TEC).
On the morning of May 15th, the delegation first visited the SHNUMuseum to learn about the educational history of SHNU and the cultural backgrounds of Shanghai. Professor Paulo Régis Caron Ruffino, Director of the Institute of Mathematics, Statistics, and Scientific Computing at the State University of Campinas in Brazil, also attended the meeting.
The SHNU Vice President Li Ye welcomed Araújo and his delegation, stating that SHNU has long attached importance to educational exchanges and cooperation with Latin American countries. He expressed a willingness to take advantage of the platform provided by the Center to further expand pragmatic cooperation with institutions and organizations such as the Brazilian Ministry of Education, iBRICS+, FGV, and the Brazilian Mathematical Society. He also mentioned the establishment of long-term cooperation mechanisms in areas such as BRICS cooperation, regional governance, youth exchanges, scientific research collaboration, and teacher education, aiming to promote China-Latin America educational cooperation.
Araújo looked forward to further expanding the scale of Brazilian students and educators who have opportunites to exchange in Shanghai in the future, and strengthening cooperation between the two sides in areas such as teacher training, digital education, and educational assessment.
The visit of the delegation laid a solid foundation for the SHNU UNESCO TEC to continuously deepen educational cooperation with Latin America and expand the global network of teacher development partners for the university.
