SHNU Professor Awarded as Annual Artist of China

SHNU: Sponsored by the journal New Weekly, the Awarding Ceremony of 2014 Cadillac China Annual New Pioneer List was held at the ancient city Dali of China’s southern Yunnan Province on December 13th. SHNU professor of College of Fine Arts and famous painter Zhang Chenchu won the prize of Annual Artist. Also, he was listed in the Cultivation Plan of Shanghai Young Artists, a part of the 6th Shanghai Prize of Literature and Arts.

The words that came from over 39 famous media workers and scholars were quoted as the following, “As an innovator of news painting, Zhang regarded Chinese faces as his mission and defined them with his painting brush.” He depicted Chinese roles and represented Chinese celebrities such as Jack Ma, Li Na, and Yao Chen with his incomparable dedication. He drew on those people’s faces the five stars that stand for China, and illuminate Chinese facial expressions under magic realism by means of twinkling spots.
