On September 27th, the 48thWorldSkills Competition concluded successfully in Shanghai. Jiao Jiao, a contestant from Yangpu Modern Vocational School AffiliatedtoShanghai Normal University(SHNU), represented China in the vehicle body repair competition. Competing in six major modules over 20 hours, he calmly fought against top competitors from around the world and clinched the gold medal. This marks the fourth WorldSkills gold medal won by students from the school in the vehicle body repair event, achieving a "four-peat" in the competition.

Jiao Jiao focused intently and responded calmly to the challenge. The competition was divided into six major modules: vehicle body diagnosis and alignment, structural component replacement, non-structural component replacement, steel-aluminum panel and paintless repair, plastic part repair, and body assembly and adjustment, with a total duration of 20 hours. Among these, the structural and non-structural component replacement tasks took 13.5 hours in total. Industry-standard repair errors typically measure several millimeters, while the WorldSkills standard requires precision within 1 millimeter. The training standards at Shanghai Technical School are even more stringent, demanding accuracy down to 0.5 millimeters. At the moment the timer on the competition field hit zero, Jiao Jiao submitted his work that was nearly flawless.

Six years ago, Jiao Jiao, a beneficiary of vocational education assistance programs, moved from China’s western Guizhou Province to Shanghai and became a vocational student at the school. Over 2,000 days and nights, he ultimately stood on the highest podium of the WorldSkills Competition with perseverance and dedication. Before the competition, Chen Heng, the SHNU President, and Zhao Yang, the deputy party secretary of SHNU and Vice SHNU President, visited the venue to cheer on the contestants.
