Sponsored by MAS (National Education Directing Committee for Master of Applied Statistics), the 5th National Applied Statistics Cases Contest for Postgraduates ended in November, 2022 after three months of fierce rivaling. Three SHNU students from College of Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering won National Third Prize for their analyses in commodity value and customers’ purchasing desire based on e-commerce platforms.
Since 2014, the case contest has been held for 5 consecutive years in the aim of developing candidates’ abilities to discover, research, solve and evaluate so as to meed social demands. Also, the contest probes education methods of MAS students, and improve university statistics teachers’ proficiency in applied statistics and case studies. Some excellent case studies would be included in National Education Case Bank for Applied Statistics Majors.
