On Sept. 26, freshmen of 2007 Sino-British Cooperation majors of civil engineering had their opening ceremony at the Bajiao (meaning octagonal) Building on Fengxian Campus. Vice president of SHNU Lu Jianfei, vice dean of Engineering and Architecture and Environment College of Napier University Dr. David Reid and other representatives attended the ceremony. Lu Jianfei highlighted on how university students should meet with globalization challenges with some indispensable qualities on the occasion of education internationalization, and his earnest wishes for the first lot of Sino-British Cooperation majors of civil engineering. Dean of SHNU Architectural and Engineering College Liu Jianxin, and Dr. David Reid delivered their speeches to extend hearty welcome. After that, details of Napier University, its civil engineering majors and overseas study information were briefed, exchange activities were held and heated atmosphere reigned. As Napier University is reckoned as one of the largest public comprehensive of its kind among those in Scottish regions, the civil engineering majors ranked 13th within all across the UK in 2007.
