SHNU, Sept. 25: Chuck Y. Gee, former Dean of School of Tourist Industry Management in the University of Hawaii, was invited to deliver a lecture entitled “World Tourism Heritage” to graduates in the Institute of Tourism of our university.
Vice President Lu Jianfei, on behalf of SHNU, extended sincere gratitude to Mr. Gee and presented him a souvenir badge of the “Xuesihu Lake Overseas Master’s Forum 2007”. Yang Weiwu, Dean of the Institute of Tourism, hosted the lecture.
Prof. Gee pointed out that tourists, culture and heritage, these three parts, constitute a tourism industry capable of sustainable development. As a country with a history of over 6000 years, China is more abundant in tourism resources than any other country in the world. It is therefore of great importance to consider how to effectively preserve, use and inherit the precious resources of china’s cultural heritage for the purpose of promoting the development of tourist economy. Towards the end of the lecture, Prof. Gee answered many questions raised by students.
Prof. Gee also works in the University of Denver, Oregon State University, etc. He has won a lot of honorary titles and awards in different institutions and organizations. Furthermore, he serves as an advisor for many international restaurants, clubs and national tourism organizations.
