2007 International Art Festival Unveiled by Joint Dance Performance of Chinese and Japanese Students

SHNU, Mar 21: In the afternoon, the opening ceremony of SHNU 2007 International Art Festival was held and the first special dance performance given in the East Auditorium.
       Vice President Xiang Jiaxiang declared the opening of the festival and President Li Jin delivered an opening speech. Zhang Jin, Vice Director of Shanghai Municipal International Exchange Department, Zhang Xuena and Guo Shenglin from the Japanese Department of Shanghai People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries were also present and watched the performance. Ms. Kayoko Koyama from Japan Women’s College of Physical Education read out the congratulatory letter from their president.
        The first dance performance was jointly given by the dance troupes of SHNU and Japanese Women’s College. Students staged folk dances, ballets, modern dances and jazz dances, which were dynamic, national and exotic. The last joint dance by students from the two universities won a big applause from the audience.
        The art festival, featuring “Integration of Multi-Cultures and Exhibition of Distinctive Arts”, embraces the principle of promoting friendship, communication, harmony and development. It will last a whole year. Various Chinese and foreign arts and reciprocal intercultural exchanges will bring the teachers and students of SHNU more opportunities for study and communication.
