SHNU: From March 7 to 17, the registration work initiated by SHNU Youth League Committee for the 12th Special Olympics World Summer Games enjoyed wide attention. Currently 3080 SHNU students have entered their names for the volunteer service.
On the first day, 1000 application forms were distributed within half an hour. Among these volunteers, there were “veteran” ones who had done the work before, and student leaders who signed up for the game on behalf of their classes. They came with the same thought of contributing their lot to the game. It was calculated that nearly 2000 students entered their names on that day.
The 12th Special Olympics World Summer Games will be held in Shanghai this October, the first of its kind to be held in a developing country. As a sports event for the disabled all over the world, Shanghai will witness about 7000 athletes to attend the game. It is expected 30,000 to 40,000 volunteers are needed to provide services like protection, medical help, cleaning work, order maintenance and reception.
