SHNU: The theme activity of the 24th Teachers’ Day was ceremoniously celebrated in SHNU on Sept. 8. Officials from Shanghai Municipal Government, Shanghai Education Commission, Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality, etc. were present. 12 SHNU leaders, 31 representatives of heroic teachers and students from Du Jiangyan as well as representatives of SHNU teachers and students attended the activity. Li Xuanhai, Party Secretary of Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality (STCSM), extended festival wishes to all the teachers present and spoke highly of the progress and achievements SHNU has made during recent years. Besides, the meeting witnessed a series of activities: Li Xuanhai received the guests from Dujiangyan; he also met Sun Yayan, a SHNU political instructor who was awarded as one of the ten excellent volunteers in China; 60 new teachers vowed their devotion to the education career with heroic model teachers from Du Jiangyan leading the oath; SHNU President Li Jin spoke to encourage all SHNU teachers to work even harder; SHNU Party Secretary Zhou Honggang and Zheng Jianyu (wife of Prof. He Baogen who sacrificed his life to save a drowning student) unveiled the bronze statue in honor of He Baogen; relevant leaders awarded prizes to teachers who did a good job and won prizes at the national and municipal levels; wonderful performances were also staged to add colors to this great occasion for all teachers. （Edited by Jessica）
