SHNU: As one of the important performances of the 2013 SHNU International Art Festival, the world-renown Dresden Boys Choir of Germany brought a fantastic chorus together with Choir of Shanghai Lixin University of Commerce and Xingzhi Girls’ Choir of SHNU on Fengxian Campus on October 30.
SHNU President’s Assistant Mao Xuncheng made a welcome speech on behalf of the university and gave souvenirs to the Dresden Boys Choir.
This is the first time the Dresden Boys Choir visited China since it began the world tour in 1922 and SHNU is the only university where they gave the performance. The three songs-----"Now, Musicians, Come", "The Bell-ringing at Speyer" and "Rose On the Heath" showed their extremely pure tone, the exquisite processing of music and rich layers of voice.
The three choirs also sang together the Chinese folk song Kangding Love Song with Kopp Peter of Dresden Boys Choir as the conductor. Though this was the first time of cooperation, the song was perfectly presented. Members of Xingzhi Girls Choir said the experience of performing on the same stage with Dresden Boys Choir was so valuable as to be cherished for life. And enthusiastic audiences even waved goodbye to the boys and wished them a good journey home.
With a history of more than 700 years, Dresden Boys Choir is the oldest, the most prestigious boys choir in the world and it also has the most rigorous training. The members of it are all boys from 9 to 19.
