SHNU: On December 6th, the Academic Workshop of Chinese Studies and Material Culture Studies was held at SHNU. The discussion was themed New Perspective of Chinese Studies and Material Culture Studies. The workshop echoed the continuous development of widespread Chinese language and culture. The popularity of material culture studies in the western world originated at the end of the last century. Over the last two decades, this study has become a trend that overwhelmed the circle of European and American humanities and social studies, thus gradually forming an internationally recognized special research domain. Since the beginning of this century, the circle has become one of the two most developed research groups in terms of Chinese studies and material cultural studies. With SHNU as the host, the workshop selected one representative scholar from such mainstream academic institutes as Fudan University, East China Normal University, Shanghai Academy of Social Studies, the University of Hong Kong, and Taiwan National Tsing Hua University, etc. to probe the development in relevant fields, overseas Chinese studies before 1979, and the history of sinology in the west, etc. |
