Expert in Literature of Yi Nationality Invited to Lecture in SHNU

SHNU: On May 28, Dr. Mark Bender, Dean of Department of East Asia Language and Literature of Ohio State University and expert in literature of Yi nationality, was invited to give a lecture to teachers and students of SHNU Research Center of Comparative Literature and World Literature.

Mr. Bender talked about the multi-voice part and ballad background in the poems of “apkup vyt vy” (with Luo Qingchun as the Chinese name), a poet of Yi nationality. He also introduced how he translated Luo’s poems and profound thoughts about the deep relations between translation and ethnic culture.

The teachers and students said that after listening to the lecture, they realized that the researches into Chinese literature should never neglect the unique, rich and diverse literature of nationalities.

This lecture belongs to the serial lectures of “Oriental Forum”.
