SHNU: Christian Henriot, professor of Chinese Modern History, was invited to SHNU and spoke at Overseas Masters’ Forum on November 8th. His theme was The Decline of Contemporary Chinese Cities. He was conferred Copper Plate by Vice Dean of SHNU College of Humanities and Communication.
In 2016, Christian Henriot published Scythe and the city a social history of death in Shanghai with the sponsor of Stanford University Press. He was thus invited to Stanford and Berlin to introduce his works. This visit at SHNU marks his third stop and is also his first time in East Asia.
His report probes the procession of urban cultures in Shanghai, as well as the cultural impacts.
