Founded in 1954, Shanghai Normal University (SHNU) is key university of Shanghai. With salient features of teacher training and particular strength in liberal arts, it has comprehensive disciplines covering humanities, social sciences, natural and applied sciences, and engineering.
The university has 17 colleges and 104 research institutes, offering doctorate degrees in 6 first-level disciplines and 42 second-level disciplines, runs 7 post-doctoral mobile stations and awards master degrees in 29 first-level disciplines and 154 second-level disciplines and bachelor degrees in 84 disciplines. 140,000 students have graduated from the university and served the society on different job positions.
