SHNU: On June 28th, co-sponsored by SHNU and Towson University in US, and funded by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, the Overseas Chinese Teacher Training Class was kicked off. So did NYU (New York University) Summer Class on the same day. Lu Jianfei, SHNU Vice President, and Sun Wei, Dean of Chinese Teacher College of Towson, attended the opening ceremony with all the American learners. Lu extended hopes for more American students to learn in SHNU, and more programs to be designed to strengthen the relations with overseas universities. The one-week class for Chinese language training, includes the the discussions on the status quo of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, cultural factors and Chinese Language Teaching, schools and trends of language education, etc. Students from the NYU Summer Class come from the Cultural Education College of NYU, and are TESOL and International Education majors. The learners shall attend lectures as well as visiting some universities, middle schools and training institutes in Shanghai.
