Overseas Students Make Zongzi to Celebrate Dragon Boat Festival

On June 5th, over 50 students home and abroad gathered together at SHNU ICCS (International College of Chinese Studies) to experience making Zongzi (glutinous rice dumplings), traditional foods of Chinese Dragon Boat Festival (May 5th of China’s Lunar Calendar).

Before that, the students have prepared reef leaves, red beans and glutinous rice and started to make their own Zongzi under the direction of SHNU Campus Canteen employees. The overseas students were also briefed on the origins and customs of Chinese traditional Dragon Boat Festival.

As one of the series of Chinese Corner of ICCS, this program aims at establishing a platform for Chinese and overseas students to exchange and learn from each other, while promoting students’ understanding of Chinese culture.
