As the Shanghai-Hong Kong Cooperation Conference mechanism enters its 21st year, Hong Kong youth have extensive exchanges and deep interaction with the mainland. On the afternoon of April 24th, the opening ceremony of the third Hong Kong New Teacher Mainland Learning Program was held at SHNU. It was attended by Vice President, Mr. Jiang Mingjun, the Director of the International Exchange Department, Senior Professional Development Director of the Education Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and 100 newly hired teachers from Hong Kong.
The SHNU Vice President Jiang Mingjun warmly welcomes all the teachers who participated in this advanced training activity and sincerely expresses his gratitude for the consistent trust and support from the Education Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. He states that most teachers trained in this program are an important new force in Hong Kong's basic education stage. By sharing teacher education resources, jointly promoting teachers’ professional improvement, and improving vision for teachers’ growth between Shanghai and Hong Kong, the program aims at enhancing cooperation and development in education between the mainland and Hong Kong.
After the brief opening ceremony, Hong Kong teachers would head for the first stop of the workshop -- Chinese Arts Palace. In the front of the large-scale multimedia version of the renowned Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival created in China’s Song Dynasty, they stopped to admire, listen to the guide, and through this Northern Song Dynasty vignette, experience the long history and changes of Chinese civilization. During their four-day visit, the newly hired HK teachers will personally experience the socioeconomic conditions and cultural development of Shanghai, particularly how Shanghai has grown through years of education reforms and innovative technology. Through various forms of research and training activities such as thematic lectures, salon exchanges, school visits, corporate visits, and cultural experiences, they will not only broaden their horizons and improve their professional abilities, but also establish a cross-regional academic community, continuously promoting the overall coordinated development of education between Shanghai and Hong Kong.
