Sponsored by SHNU Urban Culture Research Center, the Symposium on Ocean Civilization and Contemporary Yangtze River Delta Social Transformations was held at SHNU on October 6th and 7th. It involves over 50 scholars and experts from universities and research institutes home and abroad to deliver about 40 papers.
Themed Open, Multifaceted, Tolerant, and Enterprising, the conference probes the influence of blue oceanic civilization on contemporary social and regional transformations of Yangtze River Delta. Also, such issues were discussed as the economic reforms and social changes of the area, the rise of Yangtze River Delta cities, and opening of Islands around Yangtze River and the impact of foreign cultures on Yangtze societies.
