ApprovedbyShanghaiCommitteeofScienceandTechnology(SCT),5labprogramshavebeenlistedforgovernmentfunds,including1fromSHNU:LabofMolecularPlantSpecies.TheSHNUKeyLabofMolecularPlantSpeciesintegrateddisciplinesofbotany,genetics,biochemistry,molecularbiologyandecology.Thelabwouldinitiatebasicresearchandappliedresearchonphotosynthesisandutilityofluminousenergy.Thismarksthe3rdShanghaiKeylabofSHNU.

TheinternationalstudentsfromdifferentSHNUcollegesgatheredtogetherfor2019NewYearPartythemedBeltandRoad.Over2,600internationalstudentsand40foreignteacherssenttheirnewyearwishestoexpresstheirgratitude.Theysangsongsanddanced,accompaniedwithmusicalinstrumentsbeforetheypushedthepartytoaclimax.AlltheSHNUinternationalstudentscelebratedtheNewYearintheirownways.

The2019Sino-ChineseStudentsNewYearWelcomePartywasheldatXuhuiMusicHallonDecember26th.Itwasattendedbyabout700audienceswhogathertogethertocelebratethe40thanniversaryofChina’sopeningandreforms.ThedeanofICCS(InternationalCollegeofChineseStudies)ofSHNUreviewedthepastdaysofprosperitywhilelookingaheadfortheforthcoming2019.TraditionalChinesesongswerepresentedaccompaniedwithdancingshowsandshortplays.

Recently,2018ChinaASEANUniversityStudentsCulturalWeekMicrofilmContestwasheldatHaikouCityofChina’ssouthernHainanProvince.SHNUstudentscompetedwith30delegationsfrom15countriestowinthe2ndprizefortheirteamworkmovieproductionFrost.ThemicrofilmcontestaimsatpromotingculturalexchangesandcooperationamonguniversitystudentsofASEAN.Itlastedover3monthsandattractedcandidatesfromASEANnationsandregions.

AkbertoBressan,ProfessorfromPennsylvaniaStateUniversity,wasinvitedtodeliverareporton2-DEulerequationsforSHNUteachersandstudentsfromCollegeofMathematicsandMechanicalEngineering.Itwasattendedbyover50audienceswhodiscussedwiththespeakerafterthelecture.Theyalsodiscussedsomelatestresearchtopicsforfurtheracademicexchanges.AsalectureprofessorofPennsylvaniaStateUniversity,BressanwonhonorssuchasBôcherMemorialPrize,A.Feltrinelliprize,AnalysisofPartialDifferentialEquationsandPrizeoftheSIAM.
